No built in support for custom date fields

No built in support for custom date fields so that makes it useless for any kind of event calendar. I’m building a Webinar website with a custom post type as the webinar pages. I can’t hook in the webinar date to the calendar. It only has the ability to show the date I created the post, not the date of the event.
