No categories in url’s after XML sitemap builds

  • Hello,
    I’m using WP 2.8.6 and Arne’s Google XML Sitemap generator 3.2.
    I’ve setup my blog’s permalinks to include categories like https://www.example.com/category/todays-post/
    Of late, when the sitemap builds after the post is published, I’ve been observing that the category base is removed from all the urls.
    That is, when I look at the sitemap after it is built, all the urls look like https://www.example.com//post1/
    https://www.example.com//post2/ etc
    However, when I rebuild the sitemap manually immediately after that, everything will be normal with categories appearing in url’s.
    Is this bug or anyone else’s is seeing this?
    My fear is, if at all I forget to see the sitemap after it builds(even for a while), the Google bot would dump in all the 404’s when I log into the webmaster tools and that would degrade my blog?

    I see this error reported as a bug in WordPress trac owned by Arnee, but no resolution still.
    Any one?
