    I followed all the steps you mentioned, still no chat icon is visible on my page.
    – whitelisted in the app page=yes
    – using ssl on my webpage=yes
    Any idea?

    Do I need the approval from facebook in the facebook app settings?
    In the Facebook App dashboard under “Products” I see a green checkmark on “Facebook Login” but no “Messenger”

    no need to any thing – form the above two messages,

    you did great job.

    still an issue – sdk is not thrown any error in console

    there are multiple sdk running in your website with different version
    is it possible to uninstall that sources for a while and try again
    ( just for a movement please uninstall other plugins which added fb sdk and try agian )

    you are totally right. Your plugin works perfectly after I deactivated the following plugin: WP Like button by CRUDLab Version: 1.4.61
