Hi – hoping someone is able to help me here.

I would like to deactivate or delete a plugin. When I go to the plugin page in the WP CP it lists all the plugins but there is no option to deactivate and no check box to “tick”.

I automatically updated to the latest version of WP today but this was happening yesterday too.

    Many thanks for any assistance.

What happens if you switch to the unedited default Theme (Twenty Sixteen.) for a moment?

    Thanks for the suggestion.

I tried that now but it is still the same – no check boxes or deactivate options. I have cleared my chache and am busy installing firefox to see if that makes a difference somehow.

    Have you also tried:
    – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Not just your browser, but any op cache or content network cache as well such as Cloudflare. If your host provider has a “Purge Varnish” option or if you can ask your provider to flush memcache on your server. If you are using SiteLock, manage your caching there.
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Please read the Manual Update directions first.
Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

Thanks for your detailed input! I just opened the control panel and went to the plugin page and – believe it or not – the check boxes and deactivate options were there again! So strange! Should I encounter the problem again I will definitely do as you suggested here. Thanks again!

As luck would have it, the issue came up again. I followed the suggestions and after deactivating all the plugins from my main CP and reactivating individually, my check boxes and deactivate options returned and I was able to pin point the problem.

I say luck because had it not been for the support and knowledge here, I would not have learned something new – great community! Big thanks ??

Which plugin was causing the issue?
