To test this plugin, I added an event for December 29th, 2021. However, when we go to the main calendar page, the event is not clickable.
Also, using the Newspack theme from Automattic, this plugin has several issues with many of the styles, templates, and “updated designs for all calendar views”.
I need to take this live somewhat soon, and I am also considering buying a few of the plugins like Community Events and the Filter bar. We need to have the core fundamentals of this calendar fulling functioning correctly and working with the Newspack theme (and it’s associated plugins).
The Calendar must not take up a full page width. Ads must be visible in the sidebar on the main Calendar page. However, when toggling the “Events Template” from Default Events Template to “Default Page Template” (which would allow for sidebar ads), the calendar does two things: 1.) It simply disappears entirely. 2.) It pushes the sidebar down to below the content.

If I uncheck the “Use updated calendar designs” *WITH* “Default Page Template” selected as the “Events Template”, then the calendar appears on the main page. However, it pushes the sidebar down ……….again. So, with these two settings, the Calendar page does indeed finally appear + with the event clickable + with the old styles (and the “Update your calendar views) + with the sidebar pushed down the bottom left of the page.

    Whew!

Still not done…… but the point:

After attempting many different toggles, options, default stylesheets, event templates, and updated event views, is it simply not possible to make this thing work on a Newspack theme? If it is, I’m all ears, and I’m in for all the plugins. If not, simply let us know and our town can run w/ different calendar options. Our main goal is front end user submitted events.

This is a free endeavor to get local news back up and running again with the Newspack platform. So, if the basic calendar isn’t going to work with Newspack, please simply let us know.

    Thanks!

Jetpack Boost. That was the culprit. The Events Calendar’s events are no longer clickable when using Jetpack Boost.

    Hi @burlesonbrad

It sounds like there may be a conflict with the Newspack platform. Does our plugin work as expected with a default WordPress theme, like Twenty Twenty?

If so, I’d recommend reaching out to Newspack to see if they have any suggestions on how to make everything play nicely together.

    I hope that helps!

    Thanks,
    Jaime

Great, glad to hear that you have found the culprit!

    Have a wonderful day!

uncheck jetpack boost option “Defer Non-Essential Javascript”
