    Hi, apologies if this is posted in the wrong place.

    I’ve recently updated my theme of my website from twenty ten to twenty twelve. The front page is now static and overall i’m relatively happy with the result, even though I’m still dealing with glitches across the site.

    The biggest one, it seems, is the fact that on the blog, I haven’t got an option for comments so no-one can reply. I’ve searched for obvious (and not so obvious) solutions, but to no avail. I’ve de-activated and re-activated plugins. Checked all the relevant options in discussions and in the post itself… I’m just ready to throw my laptop at the wall!! ??

    By the way, the comments WORK on the static front page… just not on the blog page (although on the old blogs, you can see them – they’re just a little glitchy)

    And a new thing that’s just happened…right at the bottom of blog page, it’s coming up as comments are closed.

    I’m not great with code, but if you can walk me through it, I can try. Any help would be very greatly appreciated.

  • that on the blog, I haven’t got an option for comments so no-one can reply

    comment boxes are by default only shown on single posts and static pages;

    I don’t know, why comments are (now) closed on your single posts after the change of theme,
    but you can control that from:
    dashboard – settings – discussion (will only have effect for posts published after the changes)
    and for each individual post:
    dashboard – posts – all posts – click quickedit below the post titles – tick ‘allow comments’

    I’ve just stumbled across the basic solution – and I hope it help somebody!

    Although the time settings in my General tab were correct, for some unknown reason, my new post settings were showing that i’d published the blog 6 months ago! After almost 2 days of looking for a complicated solution, it was an obvious one as I have my posts set to close comments after 14 days ??
