No content in the Yoast panel on "Page edit"

I have installed Yoast WP SEO on several sites without problems. But in this case something went wrong.
The plug-in was installed. I could see all settings at the backend BUT there was just an empty panel on the page edit area.
I have tried to re install. Then I get an alert saying “unexpected output during activation”. The plug-in settings looks OK but the Yoast-panel in the page edit area is still empty.
On the “Publish-panel” the SEO remark says “Unavailable”.
Is this a conflict with other plug-ins or something else?
