No custom excerpt stored

  • I installed this plugin, wrote and published a blog post, and then I looked at the excerpt field for the post in edit view and there is no excerpt there. I had hoped that it would create the excerpt and store it in the database with the post data. Does it not work that way?

    Hi,

    The plugin does not create and store an excerpt. It filters the excerpt before the output, the excerpt that WordPress generates ( either using the main content or the supplied excerpt ).

    You don’t need to use the custom excerpt field in WordPress, the purpose of that field is if you want your excerpt to be different from the content itself. Otherwise WordPress uses the start of the main content as an excerpt.
