    Hy,
    The site-address quoted above is working without mistake. But I have an issue on the local copy, used as test version.

    If I want  to customize the theme Sydney, I get the following warning:

    Warning: Trying to access array offset on value of type null in A:\laragon\www\aschi\wp-content\themes\sydney\inc\customizer\style-book\class-sydney-style-book.php on line 217

    And on the left site, istead of the customizing menu, it shows only the titles of the menue (i.e. the main positions).

    theme: Sydney, Version 2.48

    Server (local):    Apache/2.4.62 (Win64) OpenSSL/3.0.13 PHP/8.2.22

    PHP-Version      8.2.22 (supports 64bit)

    It looks as if a css or style sheet seem to be missing,

    I unistalled the whole theme and copied the whole folder “sydney” from the online-page, where it is running without this warning.

    But the warning is still there.

    I believe there must be some folder where the customizing is stored – outside the folder in “themes/sydney”.

    How can I fix this? Thanks for your help.

    Regards Aschi

    Hy,

    it is not the php-version. I just tested on my local server. Instead of php v. 8.2.22 I used php the older version 8.1.31. But the warnings are still there. And because the server for my online-page https://aschihaas.ch is using the same php-version (8.1.31) and shows no warnings, the problem has to be somwhere else.

    If I have a look at the file quoted in the warnings, class-sydney-style-book.php, there is a comment about “fonts for all hedings”:

    //Headings
    //we currently only support one font for all headings
    $headings = json_decode( get_theme_mod( ‘sydney_headings_font’ ), true );

    Maybe this causes the warnings? But I still have no idea how to fix it!

    Theme-version problem?

    I took an older version of the theme sydney (free) from a backup: v.2.41 – and the warnings are all gone!!!

    With sydney V. 2.41 everything works – except the word press site health check moaning “theme not updated”.

    So I wait for the next theme update and hope that will fix it.

    Hy,

    it is definitely a problem of sydney, version 2.48. I tested on my local server all versions of sydney taken from my backups. Result: untill version 2.47 there are no problems (no warnings showed when customizing).

    But with the last update (december 2024) to version 2.48 all warnings are here again! So we wait for version 2.49 and hope the problems will be fixed in the next version.

    Astonishing: on my online-site uses version 2.48 without issues! only on a local host there are warnings witgh version 2.48.

    As I cannot do anything more, I leave the problem as “unsolved”.

    Regards Aschi

    Hi @aschi,

    I can confirm that Sydney’s Customizer currently has an issue with PHP 8.0 above. And our development team will fix this in upcoming version. Meanwhile, I’d recommend switching to PHP 7.4.x or any versions between 7.4 and 8.0.

    Hi @kharisblank and @joannapol,

    Yes, the problem is solved with Sydney-update to version 2.49!

    Thank you very much. Best Regards Aschi
