It appears that the automatic upgrade broke my site. When I login, I have no access to the Dashboard. I’ve read every post and haven’t found a solution. It began when I was unable to upgrade. When I click the link from he email to upgrade, it reads, “Sorry, you are not allowed to access this page.”
When I tried DEBUG, the error reads [`Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, function ‘wp_maybe_grant_install_languages_cap’ not found or invalid function name in /home/perfil/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php on line 288
…which may or may not be related to the Dashboard issue.
It seems that the issue is related to the values in the wp-config file and the database settings, but I’ve been unsuccessful in fixing the issue.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Your site opens fine for me.

When I login, I have no access to the Dashboard.

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

As an alternative, if you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

Thanks for the reply. I did all those things, and I still have no dashboard access. Any new ideas?

    – Try MANUALLY re-updating. Download WordPress again and unzip it. Access your server via SFTP or FTP, or a file manager in your hosting account’s control panel (consult your hosting provider’s documentation for specifics on these), and delete then replace your copies of everything on the server except the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory with fresh copies from the download. This will effectively replace all of your core files without damaging your content and settings. Please read the Manual Update directions first.
Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

Discuss with your hosting provider if they implemented some new security measures.

I was about to do the manual upgrade, but thought, what if that still does not get me into the dashboard? Then potentially I’m left with an inaccessible site, plus the same issue of not getting into the dashboard. How confident are you that a manual upgrade will fix the issue?

Wish I had the crystal ball! This just an another troubleshooting step.

Thank you for your candor. The only reservation I have with this troubleshooting step, is it is one that can lead to total devastation. If you know of no other fixes, I’ll go down that road and hope for the best.

    – Check the error logs on your server for a any clue or specific error message and see why it’s failing. If you need help locating them, ask your hosting provider to help you with that.
    – If you cannot find error logs or if you don’t find any helpful info in the error logs, try Enabling debugging

    from my original post…

When I tried DEBUG, the error reads [`Warning: call_user_func_array() expects parameter 1 to be a valid callback, function ‘wp_maybe_grant_install_languages_cap’ not found or invalid function name in /home/perfil/public_html/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php on line 288

You said already tried resetting the plugin folder, and switching to the default theme.

    I’m out of ideas, sorry.

No worries. Thank you for the effort. Wish me luck!

Just got Same issue here and tried all the steps regarding plugins and themes and debug log has nothing more than already showing.
Did you manage to solve your problem and how(before I start nuking the website)?

Yes. The only thing that worked, was the manual upgrade. I didn’t want to do it due to the many things that could go wrong. However, I took my time and followed the directions exactly. And luckily it worked. I turned off the automatic update so in the future it doesn’t wreck my site again (it happened twice). Use an FTP – I used FileZilla.
