    Hi,

    I’m using WordPress 1.5.2

I seem to have a small problem seeing the dashboard. It’s not there. I get the error message below.

I can click through to my blog though. I think it’s something to do with the way I uploaded WP to the host. I use mac with Cyberduck.

Do I need to show you the screenshots? I think what has happened is that I have more than one domain (database?) set up and the install is getting confused. (me too).

I want to set up a few blogs. Think I need a few more good instructions.

    Thanks so much.

    Martin

…and we need a clear description of what you want and what did: step by step.

And remember: WP is for ONE (1) blog. No multiblog – unless you make as many installs as many blogs you want. All in separate folder, all with heir own separate prefix for the database tables.

Ok first I went in to my host and added some AddOn Domains.

    yourthailandflight.com (yourthailandflight)
    thewhiteapeinthailand.com (thewhiteapeinthailand)
    homebusinesscreative.com (homebusinesscreative)
    thefunnyjoker.com (thefunnyjoker)

These are configured to point at my host.

Then I followed the instructions from:
    “everymansWPinstall.pdf”

Log into my host, go to Mysql.

Uploaded the WP files after making changes to wp-config.php

Using Cyberduck I see in my account the following:

    400.shtml
    401.shtml
    403.shtml
    404.shtml
    500.php
    500.shtml
    cgi-bin (folder)
    default.html
    favicon.ico
    homebusinesscreative (folder – my domain)
    martinhurley (folder – my domain)
    php.ini
    thewhiteapeinthailand (folder – my domain)
    yourthailandflight (folder – my domain)

I uploaded the WP files into the homebusinesscreative folder.

I’m aiming to set up a WP blog for all of these domains above.

What I didn’t do was – “Change the prefix if you want to have multiple blogs in a single database.”

Would I assume correctly that what I have now is one database with different folders in it, each folder containing a different blog/domain?

Are you saying I can have all these folders (domains) in this account each with its own uploaded WP blog?

What’s this mean “separate prefix for the database tables. “?

Is this enough info I am trying hard to get this right I’m not a coder just designer.

    Thanks so much..,

One for each? Or one blog and all the domains point to it?
I don’t think the so-called pointed domains can have anything in them. But, ultimately, this is a question you should clarify with your host.

What I didn’t do was – “Change the prefix if you want to have multiple blogs in a single database.”
That’s the same thing what I was trying to tell you: have different prefixes. However, this is needed only if you have installed WP in four locations and have 4 wp-config files. All of them should have different prefix for the database.

Would I assume correctly that what I have now is one database with different folders in it, each folder containing a different blog/domain?
Databases do NOT have folders. Only tables with data.
And no, you don’t have four different things, unless you installed WP four times.

And just out of couriousity: why 1.5.2 – why not the latest stable – 2.0.2?

Thanks again. Yes one WP blog for each domain. I just used 1.5.2 because that’s what I downloaded last time. But now I know 2.0.2 is stable I’ll try that… if I can work this little problem out…

It’s confusing because using cyberduck I look at my database at my host and see folders. That’s what I see with my Mac anyway. Is there anyway/anywhere I can send in a screenshot?

So… for each blog I will need a separate database right?

    Appreciated…
