• Hello! We have used GADWP for several years and it has worked fine but suddenly, about a week ago, it stopped working. We got error messages that we would need to reauthorize and that the project had been disabled or something like that. The person who installed the GADWP and created the Analytics account isn’t available to us anymore so we couldn’t reach the original Analytics account and authorize again. So we started a new Analytics account and authorized that successfully in GADWP. No errors reported in GADWP. But we can’t see any data at all. When we check with “view source” in the browser, I can clearly see that our new tracking code for tracking id UA-107760629-1 is on the page. But also our old code with tracking id UA-50601017-1 is left. Can this be the cause that the Analytics doesn’t work? If that’s the case I don’t know really how to remove the tracking code for the old account. Our data is 0 on all views, both in the GADWP panel and in the Google Analytics admin page. Thankful for help. /Clas Peterson, Gothenburg Sweden

Edit: Actually, as I wrote this message (october 9 2017) it seems like the tracker has started working, I’ll check it out and report back! ??

  • Hi,

Code duplicates can generate these issues. I would recommend you following this tutorial https://deconf.com/check-google-analytics-tracking-works/.

Most probably the other code is inserted through another plugin or your theme.

Hello Alin. Thankyou for the link tip. Yes I have checked that page but cannot find any other plugin that may have inserted the code. Couldn’t it be the GADWP that installed the old code and that it has been left so to speak? Or do GADWP always remove the old code that it has installed when installing new? As it is as we speak now, we can actually see data coming in now in the GADWP panel but still not in the Analytics account.

    Hi,

GADWP only inserts one code at the time, so that’s not possible (to have a code duplicate due to GADWP itself).

Ok, I understand. Anyway, it seems to be working now so I’ll just let the old tracking code be where it is. Thanks for your replies Alin.
