• I’m using the latest version of MAMP on a Mac and the latest version of WordPress to create a Localhost site for a client. Created a wonderful 12 page site for the client who wanted to use WordPress so they have access to the site. The site was all approved and everything was ready to go.

Exported the files and database but then noticed that all the navigation menus were missing from the site. Fortunately I noticed this prior to uploading it to their server. Tried to repair the menu problem but for some reason the Admin panel refused to allow me to do so. It failed to save any of the corrected links. Logged out of WordPress, logged back in and all the pages were missing except for the front page. Logged out again.

Now I can no longer even log in to WordPress to access the site or the Admin panel. I even tried downloading a new version of WordPress but that didn’t work either. I have screenshots of each page if I need to recreate the site but I’d really like to know what I did wrong in the first place. Any ideas on how to repair this would be helpful.

Just the usual “Error establishing a database” on a white page. Nothing else.

I have noticed that I seem to have two versions of MAMP in my Applications folder, but only one of those has the WordPress files. The other seems to have a date after it (not at my computer at the moment) if I remember correctly.

I had considered trashing all copies of MAMP and WordPress and starting with a fresh install and then seeing if I could Import a backup if the database, but that seems like a bit more work than it should be and may not solve the problem. It would however give me a clean start to build it again but that’s a lot of wasted hours.

Let me know if that works out for you
