“No Direct Access” error – can’t download files

  • I’ve been working with Download Monitor regarding their latest update. The download links themselves are giving me a “No direct access. Please fill out a new form to generate a new link.” error. I contacted them as the links within the DM dashboard itself were broken.

    They were able to diagnose that the EBD plugin was the culprit. Deactivating the plugin allows all the DM links to work, enabling it back breaks the links.

    This is breaking on three of our websites using the same configuration. We’re using DM 4.0.3 and EBD 5.1.3.

  • I am having same issue. here is a link to one of my pages that is not working.

    Basically you fill out the form, but link doesn’t appear and no email with link is delivered.

    I also confirmed that deactivating the EBD plug In allows the Download link to work correctly in Download Monitor. But if I re-activate, the links don’t work and you get the error “No direct access. Please fill out a new form to generate a new link.”

    Please fix!!!!

    Using:
    Wordpress: 4.9.4
    Download Monitor: 4.0.3
    Email Before Download: 5.1.3
    Contact Form 7 : 5.0

    Update:

    The EBD emails were going to my junk folder for some reason — this is new.
    – Links in EBD email now working
    – link is not being generated on page by EBD after form completes
    – tried using the delivery_format=”both” on form page

    I have noticed that the download link format has changed when EBD is installed

    I’ve noticed this as well, the ?uid parameter on the links still allow the download to work, but any links I have hard coded in my emails as additional download options do not work.

    Hopefully this will be fixed soon. My client is not very happy links aren’t working as requiring emails before they download reports and tracking the downloads are the main functionality for their three sites. It also makes me cautious updating to newer versions in the future.

    I have had multiple issues lately with EBD and/or DM breaking

    One thing you can try is resetting permalinks – just go to settings/permalinks and hit save.

    Also on the DM settings page / Misc tab, I hit clear all transients which may have helped.

    I hope they fix this soon, I am look for an alternative download solution as I am wasting a lot of time and I cant check it every day to make sure its not broken again my some update…

    Thanks for the update. I’m now getting a “Invalid UID Please fill out a new form to generate a new link.” when trying to go directly to a DM link without it having the UID parameter on the end which is present in the email.

    Ok, it must be the whole method.

    Thanks! I can confirm it’s working on my install.

    I still don’t see the page link being generated, I have delivery method = “both” selected…

    but the DM links work now with EBD activated, and the emailed links to the download also work. Its just not generating the link on the page.

    There are more fixes coming in the next update.

    Link now appears on page after form is filled out, thank you for fixing it!

    Yes, it appears on the page but still doesn’t in the email.
