Hi. I just installed this plugin and it looks nice but first issue which is a quite big one, is that none of the emails actually appears to be sent out.

I used another account to make a reservation and first no email confirmation arrives. Okay cool, maybe this is not optimal so I click on “resend email” several times and it does not work. I also go into my reservation (as the client) and make a request writing that I want to cancel the reservation. This doesnt arrive either.

Is there anything I need to setup prior to doing that?

Btw, I also tried sending a text via the plugin (was surprised that it existed on the free verson) and sent a message and it didnt say anything like “you need to be pro to send it” but obviously it did not send that out either.

    Hi,

Vik Booking uses the WordPress native functions for sending the email messages, which rely on the famous PHP library called PHPMailer.

There are many factors that could be causing the email messages to not be sent, such as a conflict between the sender email address and the recipient email address, or simply a non-allowed sender email address. Such settings can be specified in the Configuration page of Vik Booking, and you should make sure to be using an allowed sender email address for your server.

Whenever an email message is not delivered to the recipient, it doesn’t mean the email message was not sent, maybe the sending action was refused by your server, usually because of the reasons explained above.

In these cases we suggest considering the option of installing and setting up a third party plugin that will send the email messages through an SMTP authentication, of course only if changing the Sender Email Address setting (to an allowed value) from the Configuration page won’t work. We also have developed and published a free plugin to send the email messages through an SMTP authentication, which will also store the logs of the email sending results when possible. This plugin is called “Vik Mail SMTP”, but you can find many other free ones on the WordPress Plugins Directory. However, it is important that such plugins extend the WordPress native functionalities for sending the email messages, or Vik Booking won’t be affected.

Regarding the SMS topic: you need to set up an SMS Gateway Provider in order to be able to send SMS messages, so this requires an account with an external and supported SMS Provider. However, the free version of Vik Booking does not come with any SMS gateway pre-installed, even though you could extend this part of the framework even in the Free version. Instead, the Pro version comes with a few pre-installed SMS gateways.
In any case, email messages should always be delivered correctly no matter if you are using the Free or the Pro version of Vik Booking.

For any other questions, we kindly ask you to reach out to our technical support by using the contact form on our website in case you are not using the Pro version. Thank you.
