No error for insufficient funds

When a customer puts in a credit card on our checkout that has insufficient funds there is no ‘customer facing’ error given to them.
The page just goes dark for a second and then comes back to normal.This make people assume nothing has happened so they continually press “Place order” with no effect and no errors visible.
We have confirmed that an error is logged in the backend “card has insufficient funds” – but we need this to be customer facing as well.
