No Error if Image Upload Fails

If I try to upload an image larger than the allowed image size (default or customized), USP successfully submits the post text, but not the image, and there is no notification that the image didn’t submit.
Is it possible to trigger an error if the image is too large, or otherwise didn’t upload?
