No error messages?

Hi. I have enabled the ability for subscribers to upload an avatar and have given them a front end page to do this using the “[avatar_upload]” shortcode.
I have given them a 2MB upload limit, but if they attempt to upload an image larger than 2MB, it doesn’t display any kind of error message letting them know that the filesize was too big. Instead, it displays the “Profile Updated” message and simply doesn’t change their avatar at all and gives no explanation.I’ve had a look at the plugin code and there does appear to be a global “$errors” variable set up to capture errors; it just isn’t displaying anything.
I’ve tested the functionality on multiple sites that I’m running to check that it’s not something blocking it on the site that I needed it working for and it’s doing the same thing on all sites.
