• I’m trying to export from a freely-hosted 2.0.1 WP to a newer version hosted elsewhere. The older version has no export function, the host is unresponsive, and I don’t have FTP access to add export plugins as I’ve seen suggested here.

Is there any other way to get posts and comments over to the new blog?

    Thanks,

    -M

Thanks, Handy — but I don’t have the access to upload the plugin on my old blog. Can you think of any other way I can transfer my stuff?

The only other method i can think of is to use the RSS Feeds, However, That’ll probably be limited to the number of posts in the RSS feed.

Alternativly, You can try accessing the export file directly if the host has simply removed the links:
    /wp-admin/export.php or /wp-admin/export.php?download=true&author=all

If the above doesn’t work – do you have a way of accessing the database?

Presumably you know your database config stuff – you could try Sql Yog or something like that to try and get in and export all your database tables?

Your host might not allow remote db access though, so this might be a lost cause.
