When viewing my Posts page/list, my Featured Images are no longer showing up for most posts. Instead, there is a red X graphic and a warning that says “No File Was Uploaded”. The featured images are there when I click into the actual post, but I’m not seeing the previews as intended when looking at all of my posts together. Help!

    Hello @danacubbage.

    Thank you for reaching out.

Unfortunately I have no idea how I can help you. The situation described is not normal behavior of Quick Featured Images. I would assume there is a conflict with your theme or a plugin. To check this, please disable all plugins beside Quick Featured Images and temporarily switch to a standard WordPress theme like TwentyTwentyThree.

Let me know if the problem persists in this configuration. If so, please share some screenshots to show the situation in your backend.

I believe that it has to be an issue with the plugin, not the theme or another plugin – because it was working totally fine one day and then doing this the next… without any changes to other plugins or the theme. I’ve spoken to my website/blog host and there have been no updates or changes on their end to WordPress. Another plugin called “Display Featured Image In Post List” is pulling the images into the page fine – so the images are there to be seen. This particular plug in is just saying “No file was uploaded” ??

Interesting argument. You write that there has been no change on your website. So, no plugin or theme has changed. Everything worked well including Quick Featured Images. But now, you assume that all other plugins would still work fine, except that Quick Featured Images would have a problem from one day to the next. Without code changes.

What exactly do you expect, now?

I was just hoping you may have some insight into why this would happen suddenly. I absolutely didn’t mean to offend you. I am sorry.

Don’t worry, I don’t feel offended. I want to help and do my best from my side of the screen. I give you some advice, but you reject it. If you don’t want to bother, that’s no problem for me. But then I can’t help any further. I’m sorry for this.

Oh sorry – I did try the recommendations you made and the problem still persists. I’m unsure how to add a screenshot here since it’s asking for a URL

Thank you for the screenshot @danacubbage. I had a look and can see there is no general issue with Quick Featured Images. Images can be seen above and below the first message “No file was uploaded”. So, there must be an individual reason on your website why Quick Featured Images cannot find the images. Are you sure there are featured images attached to the posts? If so, I need more details about the featured images itself. Can you share some URLs of the featured images, please? From the files themselves. Are they linked from a third-party site or attached as a local file? Are you using a cache plugin?

So here’s a link from one that is showing up in the post list:

    File URL: https://danacubbageweddings.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/charleston-wedding-photographers_0059-scaled.jpg

    Original link: https://danacubbageweddings.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/01/charleston-wedding-photographers_0059.jpg

And here’s one that is not showing up in the post list:

    File URL: https://danacubbageweddings.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Callie-Gates-Faves-4-scaled.jpg

    Original link: https://danacubbageweddings.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/09/Callie-Gates-Faves-4.jpg)

    —–

I upload them straight into WordPress, so I’m guessing they are attached as a local file? Sorry – I’m not super technical and not 100% if that’s what you meant. And no cache plugin that I’m aware of! Thanks for looking into this! I truly appreciate it!

Thank you @danacubbage for the links.

It is a bit tricky for me. The only similarity I can see is that both images are scaled. Can you confirm the other not listed images are also scaled? And can you please check that the other images listed are not scaled?
