• The gallery shortcode with the photo numbers appears in the “Text” tab of the WordPress editor but the gallery no longer appears at all in the “Visual” tab, where I go to visually edit a gallery. The gallery appears okay in the published site, but it’s now much harder to edit.

    This might be caused by a plugin conflict. Can you turn off all of your plugins and switch your theme to the default TwentyTwelve, and then check to see if you see the Gallery in the visual editor? If so, turn on your plugins one by one until you find the culprit, and let me know what you find.

    Thanks, Richard.

    I switched to the TwentyTwelve theme and disabled all the plugins except JetPack and the password protection for the site, which is in development, and still had the problem. There’s just a blank in the visual editor in WordPress where the galleries once were, but they still appear in the text editor and on the site.

    What’s next?

    Hi Scott;

    Maybe the password protection is the source of the problem, then? It certainly sounds like a javascript and/or plugin problem. Try turning that off temporarily as well to see. If you STILL see the issue with only TwentyTwelve and Jetpack active, then the next step would be for me to have a look at it myself. Ideally, you’d create an admin login for me, and you would send the credentials and the site’s URL to me through our contact form:

    https://jetpack.me/contact-support/

    Let me know how it turns out.
