    Hi Mike-ism,

I’m not sure what you mean by icon preview, and I want to make sure we’re not missing a feature that should be included. The plugin <i>does</i> allow you to see an icon preview in the TinyMCE drop-down shortcode generator – is this not working for you? Or are you referring to the fact that shortcodes appear as shortcodes (not icons) when editing? If that’s the case, then I’d love to hear more on what you’d like to see. At present, we’ve chosen to display the shortcode since this allows users to easily add classes and/or change the icon without having to switch from visual to text mode in TinyMCE (standard shortcode/TinyMCE behavior in my experience).

    Thoughts?

Hmm, that’s no good. What’s odd is that the list of icons is loading, which means the remote CSS is being pulled in, but the icons should be showing. If you can do the following for me, that’d be super helpful in debugging.

    – Try clearing your cache and refreshing – still not showing?
    – Is this a consistent problem, or is it only intermittently occurring?
    – What settings are you using in Settings > Better Font Awesome? What version of WP? What theme? Etc.

Thanks, and I’ll get on this as soon as possible.

I noticed that the site was running 3.8.3, I updated to the latest version of wp and it started working as expected. Sorry for taking up your time, this seems like it was my foolish error/ negligence.

No problem at all, in fact I think you may have found a great bug for me to take a look at. WP 3.9 uses a different version of TinyMCE, so I had to update the way BFA was creating the TinyMCE drop-down. The plugin does still maintain it’s old method of interacting with TinyMCE, and uses version detection to decide which method to use – it looks like something might be misbehaving in this regard. I’ll take a look.

Thanks a ton for the feedback – it’s always welcome!

    All the best,
    Mickey

    Hi there,

Just an update on this one. This was indeed an issue with the old TinyMCE plugin, which is now fixed. In Better Font Awesome 0.9.6 (just updated), the previews should now appear regardless of the WP version you’re using. Thanks for the heads up!
