    Hi there,

    Hmm, sorry this isn’t working as expected for you. Can you clarify what you mean by “spare-symbols” or possibly provide a screenshot?

    Here are some good explanation of CDN’s for you ??

    Can you provide me the URL of your site so I can see what’s up?

    Thanks.

    Sorry for the delay, but I moved into my new house which kept me busy.

    May I suggest that you implement an opt-out of having the Better Font supplied via CDN and provide the option of having it stored locally — on the user’s website — instead?

    I don’t want to force my visitors to use Java Script, I don’t count or track them and I don’t want to force them into a content distribution network — be it benevolent or whatever.

    “Keeping it short and simple” is my credo and “What You See Is What You Get” for my guests — no hidden voodoo-coding…

    Hi Tanganjika,

    I understand your concerns, but I can assure you that no JavaScript is running to fetch Font Awesome from the CDN. Furthermore, the fetch is cached, so your user shouldn’t experience any slowdowns. Lastly, you do have the option to force using the included font fallback in place of fetching from the CDN, by setting the bfa_force_fallback to true like so:

    add_filter( 'bfa_force_fallback', '__return_true' );

    Does that help?

    Thanks for your swift reply.

    The issue was, that I had to tell NoScript, to allow access to jsdelivr.net. I reckon, that I am not the only one who uses NoScript — which would make the Awesome Font icons disappear.

    Where would I set the bfa_force_fallback to true please? Editing the plug-in? Wouldn’t this mean, that after each update it’s to be done again?

    May I suggest that you implement something similar like this in your settings-GUI?

    I’ll show my appreciation with 5 stars and a review; cheers ??

    Hi again,

    Thanks for the update. When you refer to “NoScript”, are you referring to the Firefox add-on? If so, I understand your difficulty, but as a plugin developer I can’t offer support to every browser extension out there, and certainly this is a fringe case. If NoScript is causing the issue you’re encountering with this plugin, then I imagine it would create the same issue when trying to include any external CDN file, right? There are loads of plugins out there that do the same thing as this one in terms of including externally hosted files (think about the Google-hosted jQuery package, which is included widely on tons of projects). Don’t you have to tell NoScript to allow these types of files all the time then?

    As much as I’d love your 5-star review, I try to abide by the WordPress 80% rule, and can’t justify adding a full setting for such a fringe case.

    That said, as I mentioned, you can add the code included above, either in a custom plugin or perhaps more easily in your theme’s functions.php file.

    Here’s that code again:
    add_filter( 'bfa_force_fallback', '__return_true' );

    That should do the trick for you just as well as a GUI setting would. All the best, and let me know if you need further help. Again, I’d love to address every issue/request folks have, but with nearly 10,000 active installs I’m striving to meet the majority’s needs. Thanks for your understanding ??

    Yeah, I resolved this issue indeed — by finding a better plug-in, which provides requested feature, and many more other options.
