    I was expecting the plugin use the featured image to display as main image at Tumblr. Only text based posts are being published.

    Actually, the plugin does use the Featured Image, but you need to cross-post a Photo post, not a Text post, for it to matter. Your WordPress Post format is what determines which type of Tumblr post is cross-posted. If you set a Featured Image and set the Post Format to “Image” in your WordPress post, then the plugin will create a Photo post on Tumblr with the Featured Image as the main image, as you want.

    This is explained in the plugin’s description. Consider re-reading it in case you missed it.
