No images listed in Yoast SEO sitemap?

Thanks for the post! Can you elaborate more on what you mean or are expecting? Can you provide a link that highlights the issue? Can you confirm you are using the most recent Yoast v5.1??

We ask as visited: https://ixtract.de/1473/ and see one image. This image corresponds with the same one image on that link in the sitemap here: https://ixtract.de/post-sitemap.xml.

I think you should not test the one link where the plugin states one image. The Yoast plugin just counts the basic article images in our wordpress website but not all the other posted images.
So you better use some pages with 0 images specified in the xml file from this basic site:
https://ixtract.de/page-sitemap.xml

Examples from this site list the portfolio pages, which contain 5 to 10 images on avarage. I would expect the plugin to state these images in the image count in the xml file, shouldn’t it?

So no image mentioned for this page containing about 20 images:
https://ixtract.de/portfolio-item/ran-automobilnetzwerk/

or these ones (all up to more than 5 images per page and listed with 0 images):
https://ixtract.de/portfolio-category/prozess/
https://ixtract.de/portfolio-item/national-geographic-titanic/
https://ixtract.de/portfolio-item/flug-miaohoehle/
https://ixtract.de/portfolio-item/siemens-zukunft-energie/

and so on…

Ok, we understand. We see that https://ixtract.de/portfolio-item/ran-automobilnetzwerk/ has many images on it yet it those images are not being counted in the sitemap: https://ixtract.de/portfolio-sitemap.xml.

Can you elaborate more on how those images are being added on the backend? Is it though a plugin? If so, which one? Are you using a shortcode?

Yes exactly some are being implemented with shortcodes and the portfolio images are entered via a mask in wordpress admin panel with a php backend…
It’s not a plugin, but a template bought on envato i guess…
Anyhow, is there a way to tell Yoast to count images added within the page, too? In the end the final result is a html website with images… or am I wrong?

Hi,

This is expected behavior. Images outputted by shortcodes will not appear as counted on the sitemap. Yoast will show a 0.

However, we have an open feature request with our developers here: https://github.com/Yoast/wordpress-seo/issues/7544 to create a method or filer to make those images appear on the sitemap. We suggest commenting on the issue so you may be kept aware of any new updates. You may need an account in order to comment.
