It seems obvious, since there is literally zero reference to any import feature in this plugin, but it’s worth asking: does an import function (ICS or CSV) exist in ICS Calendar?

Can you explain more of what you’re looking for in terms of an import function? The purpose of ICS Calendar is to render the data from an external calendar feed; it doesn’t save or store the calendar data in the WordPress database (other than temporary caching for performance), because that’s antithetical to what it’s about, which is continuing to manage the editing of the calendar data in an external source (e.g. Google Calendar) but displaying up-to-date info from the calendar in a WordPress site.

What would you be looking to do with the imported data? Once it was imported, it would no longer be in sync with the original source. I can see the value of such a tool, but it’s not what ICS Calendar is for. (For example, The Events Calendar is a good plugin for managing calendar data within WordPress, but it has its own ways of importing data from external calendars.) Again though, the key difference is that once data is imported, e.g. into a Custom Post Type, it’s now a separate copy of that data and is no longer in sync with an external source.

My goal is to import the data from a personal Google calendar, and then allow users to manage the calendar exclusively from WordPress.

OK, thanks. That’s kind of the reverse of the purpose of this plugin, which is to allow users to continue to maintain calendars outside of WordPress, while keeping the calendar info displayed in WordPress in sync with that external source.

You may want to look at the Event Aggregator add-on for The Events Calendar. (I am not affiliated with The Events Calendar.)

The cost for Event Aggregator is what drove me to look for alternatives. They’ve got a monopoly on the import of calendar data, and could use some competition.

Well… it is an interesting idea, and I do have an internal calendar data mechanism (custom post type, basically) on the development roadmap for a future version. But just for the record, any development this involved is going into the paid version of ICS Calendar Pro, not the free version. (Also I don’t have a timeline set for this particular feature.)
