No improvement on Google PageSpeed Insight

    Hello,

    I installed Smush and turned on Lazyload to see speed improvement but PageSpeed Insight score is just the same as before. My web page is an image oriented site so I thought Lazyload would boost the score.

    I keep bigger image sizes for people who use a larger monitors such as 27, 32″ or above so they don’t get blurred images. Is that good practice?

    Hope you’re doing well!

    I’ve visited your site and looks like the LazyLaod from Smush plugin is not active. The LazyLoad do not affect the site’s loading speed, only the performance.

    To have better loading speed and performance report, it is suggested to have images same site as the container they are in. Larger images will take more time to load and Google Page Speed Insight will show low score for the Properly size images section. The difference in image quality (for resized images) is not so high, it can be not even noticeable.

    If you will resize images, please consider using WP Retina 2x plugin along with Smush to load hight quality images to retina display.

    Just in case, please make a backup from images before making any changes. So if you will not be satisfied with their quality, these could be restored.

    If you don’t mind, I have two more questions for you.
    1. What do you mean “the LazyLaod from Smush plugin is not active”? I activated it and see the blue check mark now. Do you mean its contribution is subtle due to the number of images? I noticed Hummingbird score improved from 80 to 96 after installing Smush and activating Lazyload. On the front end I don’t see/feel any changes after installing Smush Lazyload but guess it’s good to keep it.

    2. In terms of Properly size images, I inspected the image container sizes on the home page and see different sizes as I maximize and restore down the browser. If I resize them manually what size should I refer to on the Chrome developer tools?

    At the time I’ve visited your page the lazyload was not active, there was no lazyload code loading on your site. I’ve checked your page today and it is active.

    Please enable “Detect and show incorrectly sized images” and view the front end. The images that require to be resized, will have an orange border, click on the info to see the container size
