No Index Author Page and Archives
-
Hi,
I have a single author blog. Previously it was set to index author archives. So, there were 3 author pages due to pagination. Now, as I disable it so the Yoast has automatically set it 301 redirect to Homepage.
I just want to know, if there is no author page, then why not to show 404 instead of directing? As my author page doesn’t have any rank value which I would prefer to transfer to the Homepage. It’s just unnecessary 301 redirects.
If there is no harm to show the author page indexed by good as 404 (temporarily 410 for rapid deindexing). How I can remove the auto 301 set by Yoast for my page?
If it’s harmful. Then at least the pagination pages of author page must be 404
E.g.
https://templatesfreedownload.com/author/fijcamrns/page/2/
https://templatesfreedownload.com/author/fijcamrns/page/3/Further, I suppose the page one of pagination don’t have URL like
https://templatesfreedownload.com/author/fijcamrns/page/1/
It should be just like: https://templatesfreedownload.com/author/fijcamrns/
But there is such URL exist and it’s also redirected. So in actual my author page has 4 URLs and all are redirected by Yoast but just 1st one from below list is indexed in good previously before setting no-index.
https://templatesfreedownload.com/author/fijcamrns
https://templatesfreedownload.com/author/fijcamrns/page/1/
https://templatesfreedownload.com/author/fijcamrns/page/2/
https://templatesfreedownload.com/author/fijcamrns/page/3/Also, I have turned off indexing for Tags. So, is it ok to set Yoast SEO Meta Box hidden?
