Media Credit posted an update today, but when I selected it for automatic update it disappeared from my list of Plugins. I went to Media Credit’s website and tried to download a copy, but was informed that it was already “installed.” Really? Where? It is not visible. I tried accessing Media Credit for installation from within the Add Plugin feature. Media Credit is listed, but there is no “install” button associated with the title. After the attempted automatic installation, all of the media credits on my website show a line of code. How do I fix this?

Unfortunately, you have delete a directory (<path to your wordpress installation>/wp-content/plugins/media-credit/) to be able to re-install the plugin.

I’m really sorry for the inconvenience, but that’s the only way to fix things as far as I can see ??

Thanks, Pepe. I’m not that familiar with the location for the directory you say I need to delete. Do I find it on my WordPress site, or do I have to use the cPanel?

If your cPanel has the File Manager module, than yes, cPanel. Alternatively, you could access the directory with either ftp or (preferably) ssh.

OK, Pepe. I figured it out. For others who are computer challenged, here’s the path I took. From the cPanel I located File Manager, then a dialogue box ask me to select Web Root, then I chose Public-html, the wp-content, finally plugins. I selected all of the files for Media Credit and deleted them. Then I returned to my Workpress Dashboard, chose Plugins, and lo and behold Media Credit appeared in a form that allowed me to download it. This stuff ain’t easy for some of us. Thanks for your patience and your guidance.

I’m glad you were able to figure it! Again, sorry for the run-around. This really was the worst-case scenario for things going wrong ??
