No line break and semi colon in text area

Hello,
I created a contact form and a line in my confirmation email that I can import to excel. The fields should be seperated by a semi colon. However, when someone uses a line break in the comment section or a semi-colon the line can not be imported properly. Is there a way to prevent line breaks and semi colons in a text-area in the front end (so that the user can not type a ; or a line break? The break only seems to occur when somebody uses the caps key when creating a break. That should be prevented, too, though.
