I am in the process of creating a WooCommerce store for a site. I have disabled ‘checkout out as guest’ and I have also disabled ‘create an account during checkout’. The reason I have chosen these specific settings has to do with the tax exemption process that the site uses. With these two settings the only way to create an account appears to be to navigate to the my-account page. However, during the checkout process, there is never any link presented that will direct a user to the my-account page. All that is shown on the checkout page is the following:

“If you have shopped with us before, please enter your details below. If you are a new customer, please proceed to the Billing section.”

Am I missing something, or is this a design flaw, or is this some kind of a ploy to get us to pay for the WooCommerce plugin that allows us to customize the checkout page?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello @partynoparty,

All that is shown on the checkout page is the following: “If you have shopped with us before, please enter your details below. If you are a new customer, please proceed to the Billing section.”

This is the default message WooCommerce shows when the below option is enabled under WooCommerce > Settings > Accounts & Privacy.

If you enable “Allow customers to create an account during checkout” next to Account creation, WooCommerce will let customers checkout but only if they choose Account username and Create account password. By doing so a new account is created and customers are notified via email.

Thanks for the reply. I was aware of that option. I intentionally did not choose that setting because I do not want the account creation process to be tied to the checkout process. This is related to our tax exempt process that I mentioned in my post. What I am looking for is a checkout process that would prompt the user to create an account PRIOR to the actual checkout, which would give our customers a chance to enter their tax exempt status prior to paying.

    Hi there,

Thanks for getting back with more information.

Out of the box, WooCommerce doesn’t have an option for that. To get a custom-coded solution tailored to what you want to achieve, you can consult with the WooCommerce customization partners (https://woocommerce.com/customizations/).
