• I upgraded to 3.3 this afternoon and no no longer have the choice of editing in visual or html – just html, which I do not like. Is there any way to restore those tabs?

Make sure you’ve read the entire Master List post and the New Features in 3.3 Post.

Go to your own install’s about page – https://domain.com/wp-admin/about.php – to see what’s new.

And then make sure you’ve tried…

    – flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.

    – deactivating all plugins (yes, all) to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s). If you can’t get into your admin dashboard, try resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder. The easiest way is to rename that folder to mu-plugins-old

    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme to rule out any theme-specific problems. If you can’t log in to change themes, you can remove the theme folders via FTP so the only one is twentyeleven. That will force your site to use it.

    – manually upgrading. When all else fails, download a fresh copy of the latest.zip file of 3.3 (top right on this page) to your computer, and use that to copy up. You may need to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders on your server. Read the Manual Update directions first!

THat generic response doesn’t really help much. Everything on the site works perfectly. All is in order, except these tabs are missing. I cannot see in the New Features list where these functions were removed – nor can I imagine why they would be.

Hoopdriver – You’re getting a generic response because you didn’t tell us if you did any debugging.

Assuming you did not, the first thing to do is turn off your plugins and switch themes. If it works then, you go back until you break your site again.

If you have already done some work debugging, please let us know what it was and we’ll avoid repetition.

But you do have to try to work with us here ??

I had the same issue. Installed the plugin “Use Google Libraries” and it fixed it.

    No idea why.

I have the same difficulty. When in the editing window, since the installation of 3.3, the tabs for switching between visual and HTML have disappeared. Editing is now in HTML by default, which is unfortunate because I have always drafted and edited in visual.

I have tried every solution proposed above, with the exception of manually installing a new version of 3.3. Nothing has worked. I would try the manual installation, but my blog is published via Yahoo! Small Business and, frankly, I don’t know how to do it without screwing something up. But something I did not do has certainly screwed my blog up. Any other ideas?

None I’m afraid. I’ve seen that lots of people seem to be having this problem and fixing it just seems to involve doing random things until it works – or doesn’t. I wish I hadn’t ‘upgraded’

I just tried the Use Google Libraries plug in (see above) – no joy

Use Google Libraries worked for me!

Use Google Libraries did nothing here.
