• We used to support PayPal as a payment processor for WooCommerce at the company I work for and we are no longer offering PayPal integration as an option and are actively advising clients to use Square or Stripe instead. This plugin asks for an SSN during a basic setup, you can’t even use API keys to set it up anymore. Clients are questioning why a web developer needs their SSN, and rightfully so, explaining that “it’s just how it works” is a pretty poor explanation and has lost us business. Oh well.

    We’d be happy to clarify eventual misunderstandings as “it’s just how it works” is not quite accurate.
    PayPal Payments is a full-stack solution and implements functionality that requires approval from PayPal, which is automatically requested when connecting an account with Advanced Card Processing while it has not yet been approved. The signup for advanced card payments is optional (use Standard Card Processing instead), and the account can also be connected manually via API credentials but we recommend the onboarding wizard as it will configure everything for you.

    I am trying to leave a review for this plug-in but get a message saying I am unable to “post new topics” – is this because I have been in contact with Woo asking them how they could have not only green-lit but mandated this plug in?

    I have used WooCommerce since it was launched and it’s integrated into multiple areas of my site. It worked really well and I have specifically never has an issue with the Paypal part of things until this hideous new plug in.

    It’s been unbelievably stressful and we’re now not taking Paypal payments because of it. The revenue loss is suboptimal but it’s better than naturally upset customers confused by a series of glitch-messages and the fact that they’ve paid but not received what they paid for.

    If I was allowed to review this I would like to give it negative stars – I’m now having to work out if we keep the current Stripe only install – in which case, we may as well move on from Woo, install one of the several options designed to restore Paypal standard – bonus – it works – or leave Wp altogether. Frankly I’d rather have been allowed to keep using the working solution and be able to get on with things.
