    Hi David and team,

On 8 out of 9 sites I’ve tried Easy Update Manager, there’s no menu item under Settings after plugin is installed. I’ve verified the plugin is actually on disk, and it appears to be running because it will show the “The following constants are set and will prevent automatic updates in Easy Updates Manager.” warning.

Even with that warning taken care of, still no menu option under Settings.

    FURTHER CLUES:

    – This happening even on a simple site – 7 plugins, no caching even, WordPress 5.9.

    – With the plugin installed, Site health says: “Auto-updates for plugins and/or themes appear to be disabled, but settings are still set to be displayed. This could cause auto-updates to not work as expected.” Don’t know if this is normal when the plugin is first installed, or a clue.

    – Navigating to /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wp-updates-settings%2Fwp-updates-settings.php gives a 404.

Also, the plugin is called “stops-core-theme-and-plugin-updates” on disk (and URL). This is confusing.

  • Hi @gbell12

I don’t think /wp-admin/options-general.php?page=wp-updates-settings%2Fwp-updates-settings.php is the correct URL for accessing EUM settings page.

I think what you’re looking for is Updates Options sub-menu right under the Dashboard menu or you can directly go the page by accessing this URL wp-admin/index.php?page=mpsum-update-options. You can also find the menu in the WP Admin Bar, look for one labeled Updates.

When installing EUM the first time, plugins, and themes updates settings are by default set to Manually update, that’s why WP Site Health status reports about Auto-updates feature that might be disabled for plugins and/or themes.

    Thanks
    Anthon

Oh, facepalm by me. Your installation page says “Configure the plugin by going to the ‘Updates Options’ section in your admin area under the Dashboard”, and my brain took “under the Dashboard” to mean below that item, not in the sub-menu. I see it now, thanks.

The only mystery is why I saw the settings in one of my installations, and why that wrong URL came up. Must have been another plugin with similarly named menu options.

Thanks for the help and explanations.
