@virus82, that is what my plugin does for you. It does the conversion from hidden to textarea. Modifying the Yoast Plugin like that will break on updates. In order to have the traffic lights you need to have a focus KW. It looks like you have TWO meta description boxes showing now. I would undo the change to Yoast SEO and use my plugin. You put ‘Flank Steak’ in the wrong spot is all.

Yes but the coneversion doesn’t work, that’s the reason why I edited this part – just for testing.

The Flank Steak is an old post. I created it long time before Yoast SEO v3.
The only thing I did was to change hidden to textarea and now it appears in the wrong spot. That’s not my fault…

I would still undo what you did within Yoast and repost an image so I can see what it looks like without it. Is this using my plugin as well?

@viruz82, I think there is something wrong with the custom post type within Yoast in general. Are you using my fix in your functions.php or using the plugin I provided? I do have a custom post type in one of my sites and with my change it worked just fine so it may be something else happening with yours. Perhaps a theme issue?

Okay people can ignore my previous post. The snippet you see on top has actually the function of meta description now. If you edit that you will no longer get a warning that you don’t have a meta description! And the box is not needed.
So: everyone missing the meta description: edit the snippet! If you hover your mouse over it, you see it light up and on the right a little pencil. Click and edit and voila! A meta description.

I do have to say that it still does not function properly, despite clearing cache. For example with one post I get the message:
-The page title contains the focus keyword, but it does not appear at the beginning; try and move it to the beginning.
The focus keyword is actually the first word in this post, sigh… Also: These are mini-reviews of max 100 words linked to a video which means that warning will always be red and I’ll never get a green SEO stoplight. Not sure if I can specifically change that for a category.
