No More Default Role

  • New signups used to be automatically assigned to author. Now they are assigned to nothing, no role. In the settings section, the automatically assign to role selection is missing, and even assign the role directly on the form does not work. HELP!!!

    Finally got a response from them and they didn’t listen at all. They said this feature is no longer available and new registrants will become default WP users. My default is set to author already and new users are still becoming registered as NO ROLE. Waited hours for that awesome non-help.

    We had a similar issue. We ultimately fixed the problem by changing several settings.

    1) Assign UM meta to the WP role. Go to: Dashboard > Ultimate Member > User Roles > [mouse over the “Author” role – a link will appear that says “Reset UM Role meta”] > Click the link to reset UM role meta. This should allow UM to treat the WP user role “Author” as a UM role.

    2) Assign the Registration form to the “Author” role. Go to: Dashboard > Ultimate Member > Forms > Registration Form > Customize this form = “Yes” > Assign role to form [“Author”].

    3) Set a priority for the “Author” role. Go to: Dashboard > Ultimate Member > User Roles > Set Role Priority

    This absolutely solved my problems with setting a default user role.

    One has to remember to set the settings for the form fields then, though.

    Yeah. It appears that with each update they are removing more functionality.I will be dumping this, because as of version 2.0.25 I can no longer change roles. Poor support.
