No more description on Facebook

  • Hi there !
    I am new to this forum, here is my blog url : https://www.venusnewz.com
    I installed a plugin (Facebook OG Meta) to be able to change the pictures that appear when I share a post on Facebook. I tried to install other Facebook plugins but I desactivated them because they didn’t meet my requirements.
    The problem is, now, when I share an article on Facebook, no description appears.
    You can see that when you try to share my articles before August 18, you have a description of the article, but when you share an article after August 18, there is no description.
    How can I have a description when I share articles on FB ?

  • Facebook will draw the description from the open graph description tag if it is listed on the page and on your page this tag is there but it is blank:

    <meta property=”og:description” content=””/>

    I am not familiar with the plugin you are using and how it populates this tag, but since the open graph description tag is empty I am guessing that is why your description is blank.

    Thanks for your answer, I’m sure this is the solution. Now the problem is, I don’t know how to get to that <meta property=”og:description” content=””/> and change it.
    Sorry, but can you tell me how I can get to it and then add a description?

    I would start with the plugin (Facebook OG Meta) you are using to see if you can set it or access it in there since that looks like it adds the Facebook open graph tags to your page.

    I am not familiar with that plugin, so unfortunately I cannot provide any more direction than that.

    Eventually, I downloaded WordPress SEO by Yoast and now my descriptions appear on Facebook.
