No payment options working on Internet Explorer

    Hi there,

    We have had a report from a customer that there is no credit/debit option in IE. Having checked it appears there is no CC option and – though the option is present – the PayPal button does nothing either.

    With PayPal checked I can fill out the checkout fields and get the following: ‘Error processing checkout. Please try again.’.

    Logs enabled, nothing in there WooCommerce, PayPal or otherwise.

    Hello @torlockc

    We are not able to make our plugin compatible with all browsers, the technology we use is simply not available in older browsers. I wanted to test this in IE, but it seems only Microsoft Edge is currently available for download, so I could only test that. This was successfully tested.

    Please let me know if you believe there is anything more we can for this situation.
    (if so, let me know what version IE you are testing on).

    Tested across various versions but it is not working all the way up to the latest IE11.

    IE has over 5% market share which is fairly significant (4th largest globally). I do appreciate it is a browser that is getting fazed out gradually but many of our customers are in the education sector and as such upgrade slowly as and when Microsoft stop long term support for these products.

    Is it possible to take a look at IE11 as most of those using IE should be on this version?

    I discussed this internally and it seems this was a clear situation internally that IE will not be supported. The main reason for this is because IE11 support will be dropped by WordPress 5.8+ and will also not see any official PayPal Payments support.

    We were tracking this already for some time on GitHub here:

    Sorry to tell you this, but there is simply nothing we can do for this request/issue.

    Okay good to know, thanks for the update – I will bear this in mind if customers ask and recommend them Edge as an alternative to IE.

    personally, I would recommend Chrome that has a 64% market share at the moment and works best for most people I believe.
