Manual orders are getting this error message.

When users click on the invoice link and they are already logged in, the PayPal buttons don’t appear with the PayPal option chosen. So, clicking on the Pay for order button gives that error.

If users log in from the invoice link, no problems. Choosing the PayPal option gives the PayPal buttons.

    Thanks for looking into this!

    Hi @samcysqd,

Are you seeing this behavior with the latest version 1.8.1?
This update resolved an issue with guest payments on the Pay for Order page and we’re not seeing any scenarios where the buttons wouldn’t render instead of the “Pay for order” button.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
    Niklas

    Thank you for the reply.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you; it’s madness around here. I updated to the latest version and the issue is still the same (I tested it several times) because my problem has nothing to do with guest payments.

    Like I said,

    1. User is already logged in.
    2. User clicks on the link in the email sent to them for the manual order.
    3. User chooses PayPal option.
    4. User is not offered PayPal buttons so when they click “Pay for order” they get an error message.

Does it matter that Woocommerce Payments is active? These should work together, right?

    Hi @samcysqd,

Whether or not the WooCommerce Payments plugin is active should not impact PayPal Payments in any way, as these two plugins do not directly interact with each other.

With the latest plugin version, the buyer should not see a “Pay for order” button on the manual payment page. Instead, the button should be hidden in favor of a spinner which will eventually be replaced by the PayPal smart buttons when loaded.
It works the same way on the normal Checkout page.

If the button is not loaded on the “Pay for order” page, please try disabling all other plugins except for WooCommerce and PayPal Payments to see if the issue persists.

If it does persist, could you please send us a link to a manually created order so we could take a look at the behavior directly? You can share the link from here:

Please include a link to this thread then.
    Thanks!

    Kind regards,
