    Hello.

    Even if added everywhere, there’s no picture showing when shared on any social media. Sometimes it does show, if picture is under in “social” area of the plugin. Many times the plugin seem to not care to even look for one, doesn’t care if there’s one picture anywhere in the article, as a cover and added in the social-area of yoast.

    The pictures show up in mobile view, but not in desktop.

    Can you please provide us with an example URL so we can review the page to see if the social metadata is being output correctly?

    If you are seeing unexpected behavior or appearance for one of your site’s social previews when sharing it on social media, this can be caused by the social media site caching old metadata for that page. This is why you may not immediately see the new values you set up for the page reflected in the page’s preview when you share it (image, title, description, etc).

    To resolve this, we would first recommend to try checking your page’s link using Facebook’s Sharing Debugger tool located at https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/sharing/. Can you please try running the Facebook Sharing Debugger on the page you are experiencing the issue on, and under ‘When and how we last scraped the URL’ clicking the ‘Scrape Again’ option and letting us know whether this resolves the issue? The ‘Scrape Again’ option will force Facebook to update it’s cache for your page’s link.

    Please note that to successfully update the cache it may require re-scraping your page several times as whether the page’s data can be read may take several requests between Facebook and the server your website is hosted on. Also, this guide includes more information on this and explains in detail how to do this: https://kb.yoast.com/kb/facebook-sharing-updated-details/

    @devnihil – This would be https://www.tonguesodestruction.de

    It worked out days later and I don’t know if it works properly now.

    I tried scraping my page again and again. And it didn’t work out. Either your updates recently solved it (accidentally) or facebook’s problem is solved. It happens often.

    @devnihil : Again.

    I have this problem, the scrape tools says, there’s faulty OG tags being used. I am not using them manually. There also should be an og image width and an og image height tag for the measurements.

    It now works again but takes a while. Maybe you could check the suggestions from the scraping tool I mentioned.

    @aclys It seems that your site is down. Can you please confirm? Are you having hosting issues? This might have contributed to the problem.

    @jerparx – Can’t confirm. No hosting issues. Or at least none that I am aware of.

    Hi,

    You identified several issues. We have responded to them below.

    A. Http to Https
    We can also see that you site has two versions. An https one: https://tonguesofdestruction.de/ and a non-https one: https://tonguesofdestruction.de/. This is bad for SEO (and for social media sharing) as Google thinks you have two sites and social media sites get confused. You should enter rules in your server to make all your non-https URLs get redirect to the https ones. Unfortunately, Yoast SEO Premium is unable to make this redirect. We suggest speaking to your host provider as they can help enter those rules into your server.

    Once you have the right rules, go to SEO-General and confirm that HTTPs is a part of the site and WordPress URL fields. If it is not, be sure to add it. If you do not have those fields or if you cannot edit them, your host provider can help. As a best practice before editing those fields we suggest taking a backup. If you are not sure how to do that, your host provider can help.

    B. Facebook Image
    We looked at https://tonguesofdestruction.de/ and can see Yoast is outputting the right image: https://tonguesofdestruction.de/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/tod_profil.png into the source code. See image: https://pasteboard.co/IS4hE65.png.

    Facebook even picks it up here too. See image: https://pasteboard.co/IS4hYkw.png.

    If you share the URL to Facebook does the right image then appear?

    @pcosta88 – I know it is bad for SEO. It is worse, when non of both sites work. http works better than https. They – hosting provider – told me, they have finished the job, but told me they did serveral times. So I keep both sites.

    I know it confuses social media, but the problem was there before there were two sites.

    I s SEO-general in yoast, wordpress or somewhere else to find?

    Regarding the images: the image url (the direct one), you posted is there for “If there’s no picture in the article, use this image”. But if there’s no image, none will be shared.

    > Is SEO-general in yoast, wordpress or somewhere else to find?

    This is within your WordPress admin area. In the side menu, you will see an SEO menu with a submenu called General.

    >Regarding the images
    Yoast SEO sets an Open Graph image using the custom selected image on the post/page. If one is not defined, we fall back to the featured image then to images within the post/page content then to the default image under Admin > SEO > Social > Facebook > Default settings. If there are no images in any of these places, no image tag is output and no image will be shown when shared.
