• Please help me!

I have installed “change username” plugin to change my username, and the dashboard slightly changed into a new format.

In a new format, there is no plugin tab on the left or anywhere, and I cannot upload any plugins anymore.

In addition, there is no theme upload space or “site network” so I cannot upload any themes either.

  • Hi,

Can you disable/delete this new plugin? If not with ftp client go to wp-content/plugins/ and rename folder for that new plugin temporary then it will disable this plugin.

Then somehow find how to delete it correctly also from database.

    Hi,

Thank you for telling me how to do that!
But I am afraid that I still cannot even cancel the username change plugin that I installed even though I had tried your method above.

I renamed and deleted the plugin file in file manager , but the dashboard still looks exactly the same.

    What could I do?

    Thank you so much!!

So probably it was not that plugin what did this. Check other plugins or theme.

Regardless of the plugin, now I competely lost how could I ever change my theme. Is there anyway I can reset the active plugins ?

    What is the site URL?

Okay, so use FTP or Cpanel to delete that plugin from your server files:

    wp-content
        plugins
FIND THE BAD ONE HERE AND DELETE IT

IF that does not work, try renaming the entire plugins folder:

    wp-content
       plugins.HOLD

I have deleted the suspected plugin folder already but the dashboard remains the same – it has no “Plugin” section or the place to upload new themes.

I have renamed the plugin folder in wp-content folder to “plugins.HOLD”. It does not make any difference..

Do you know any ways to reset everything and start from the beginning or something?

Thank you again for your help!!!!

I still see plugins on your site – is the plugins folder renamed? Leave it that way until you get this sorted out.

And also rename your current theme –

    wp-content
        themes
           dw-wall.HOLD

That will force WP to use a default theme – see if that solves the problem. Make sure that you do have a default theme (Twenty Fifteen) in the themes folder.

I did now. I believe that this will have my page back to the defalt, but now have no places to upload any themes or plugins.

Could I just leave it like this and wait for a day or two??

    Thank you very much

Now I see a white screen – was it working? Do you have Twenty Fifteen theme in that themes folder?

    no…

it is working but i still have no rooms to install anything new, like plugins or themes.

You need to put it there – download a copy and upload it via FTP (assuming you cannot do so via the Dashboard?)
