• Hi guys. I would be grateful for any help. I have taken over management of this site and I need to take it back to the beginning and start again with a rebuild.
I know how I want to do it but I’m stuck because there’s no ability on the site to add the plugins I want and there’s no Appearance tab so I can’t access anything there either.
I’ve never come across this before. Any help getting this site back to a fresh start, with all the WordPress facilities I need available to me, would be greatly appreciated.

This may be a plugin or theme conflict. Please attempt to disable all plugins, and switch to the default Twenty Twenty theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of the problem.

If you can install plugins, install Health Check. On the troubleshooting tab, you can click the button to disable all plugins and change the theme for you, while you’re still logged in, without affecting normal visitors to your site.

I don’t think you are on a multisite but that may be part of the problem…

I suspect the user account you’ve been given doesn’t have certain admin privileges. See if there’s another user account available with higher privileges.

Else, you’ll need to go into the database and promote that user you do have access to up to a higher level.

I’d point you to your web host but it looks like the web host isn’t in business anymore so it probably is a resaler who went out of business. I’m sure someone knows who hosts the site now.

I did see cPanel mentioned there somewhere.

Hi guys, thanks so much for the input so far. Regarding the site, there are no plugins and no ability to add any either because the sidebar lacks that tab.It could be that there is restricted access to the site and I need to contact the host but I have so far failed to get any response out of them. After several phone calls and emails I did receive an automated reply from them informing me that the request was deemed ‘low priority’. Until the host responds or engages with the client I can’t access the cpanel either.
Any further suggestions would be most welcome.
