• Hey! I am kind of frustrated. I’ve reinstalled the new English 2.9.1 version over my old Russian 2.9 version and PUBLISH button from A NEW POST page disappeared. I’ve found that the solution was to set up SCREEN OPTIONS, but the problem is that at the A NEW POST, EDIT POST or A NEW PAGE pages there are no SCREEN OPTIONS. Only HELP tab.

But that’s not the only problem. I can’t set up plugins — Akismet shows “Cannot load akismet-key-config” message, when I try to enter API key, and ReCaptcha settings simply don’t load.

I’ve tried to delete every wordpress file and replace it with an older version, didn’t help.
I’ve tried to change the syntax in WP-CONFIG file so that it creates another entry in db or something, didn’t help — still can’t create a post at the A NEW POST page (although I actually can create a post at the DASHBOARD via QUICK POST).
I’ve tried cleaning cache and I’ve tried different browsers.

  • Are you using the default WP theme? Have you tried re-uploading everything except wp-config.php and the wp-content folder from a fresh download of 2.9.1?

Yes, right now I’m using the default Kubrick theme.

I’ve tried to re-upload everything except wp-config.php and wp-content folder at first to save plugins and my customized theme. But when it didn’t work I’ve re-uploaded completely everything from the fresh 2.9.1. I’ve even re-entered my data into the wp-config.php file.

Can you set up a fresh db and point the new install at that? Perhaps there’s something in your old db that’s causing a problem.

Admin has dropped the db. Reinstalled wordpress from the freshly downloaded wordpress file. Still doesn’t work.
