I have installed this, but no rel=me can be found in my site’s source, nor using the tools at IndieWebify.me. I tried installing the two required plugins, and then IndieAuth plugin, but still nada. (I have made sure to fill in some of the user contact fields with silo usernames.)

I did get links when I added the Rel=Me widget to a menu, but it didn’t respect the “Hidden Rel-Me Links” option. I can’t tell if this widget gives the core rel=me functionality and the option is broken, or if this is a secondary functionality and the main one doesn’t work at all.

I have pored over all of the documentation within the plugin and on the wiki, and I cannot determine what actions are actually supposed to make rel=me show up. Frustrated.

Let me have a look, I worked on this functionality and it worked in testing.

Thanks, David. Is there a private channel where I can give you website details?

I made some changes and uploaded Version 3.0.3 Advise if resolved.

The widget should now work. The hidden links will come back in a future version.

Updated to 3.03, but still no rel=me links. Wondering if it’s due to some quirk in my template.

Tried toggling the “single individual” setting, too. Are rel=me supposed to appear on every page?

Is your blog a multi-author blog?

And rel=me is only supposed to appear on the author page, if you have one, and the front page if you declare it a single author site.

It shouldn’t appear on every page. On a single article page, there should be no rel=me.

Based on the questions, I am updating the settings and getting started pages to cover this.

It is a single-author blog in concept (but there are a few posts by other contributors). I have set that preference and configured the author.

The site is https://gracenickel.ca/. WordPress is in the root, but the blog configured in /journal/. Main author is /journal/author/grace-nickel/.

MichaelZed, this is actually very helpful in figuring out how to better explain the design.

Did you configure grace-nickel’s user profile with social media or other accounts?

    Thread Starter Michael Zed

    (@michaelzed)

Yes, I set various social media accounts for Grace.

For troubleshooting, I have now added the Rel=Me widget, with visibility set to display only on the Contact page.

So, it is displaying the links, but not adding the rel-me? It wouldn’t on a page… unless you specifically want that page to represent her, as opposed to the top level of the site.

Specifying a special page for that is certainly a feature worth implementing.

But rel-me isn’t supposed to be on every site page.

    Thread Starter Michael Zed

    (@michaelzed)

Understood. I do just want the rel=me links on the home page (preferably hidden). But the IndieWeb plugin isn’t automatically embedding them there, and my WordPress theme doesn’t have a widget area on the home page to allow me to add them myself.

I will restore and fix the hidden links function this weekend.

Thanks for looking into my difficulties, David.

I still am not clear on one thing: does the IndieWeb plugin automatically add rel=me’s to the appropriate pages when it is activated, or do I have to drag the Rel=Me widget to a sidebar for them to appear?

    Plugin Author David Shanske

    (@dshanske)

You need the widget or the hidden links option, which is why I will reinstate it. I was going to work on figuring out what happened with it.
