• Hi,

I have an unresolved topic which I followed up on after waiting 2 weeks for a reply.

I see at the bottom of my last post, to which there still has been no reply (after 3 weeks and 6 days), was a link saying no bumping please. According to the process that topic should have been returned to the topics with no replies list – but it is not there.

Please tell me how to get my unresolved topic back on to the topics with no replies list.

    Thank you.

  • Hi Martin,

I just had a look back through your previous topics and are you referring to the sub-categories?

Even if hierarchical is on, not everyone is going to want it like you. Some people do and will continue to want it so that people can select multiple sub-categories without selecting a top-level category. With this in mind, the way it would have to be done would be via an option that lets you choose either behaviour. We’ll look into the possibility of adding such an option, but I couldn’t say if or when we might be able to do so.

    Hi there,

Yes – I was referring to the categories/sub-categories topic.

There are two stages to my last update:

First stage: A quick fix to prevent the unexpected result that occurs when you follow the sequence I described. The simplest fix would be to un-check any (and all) non-parent categories when a sub-category is selected.

Second stage: implementation of the functionality I described.

Basically, if you can fix the unexpected result that would help me enormously and I’ll live without the extra functionality

A different option: is it possible to make the categories un-clickable with a custom code snippet and, if so, could you give me that snippet? If it’s a JS solution I’ll add it via a custom JS file so I can still get plugin updates.

    Cheers,

    Martin.

    Hi Martin,

The unexpected result is actually how it’s supposed to work. As we mentioned previously, there are multiple users that use and want the ability to be able to select sub-categories from different parent categories at the same time. It’s not a matter of right or wrong or fixing anything, it’s a matter of you wanting it to work differently than it does. We will explore adding in your desired functionality as an alternate option in the future.

    Hi there,

    OK, I understand the point.

Is there a way I can make the categories non-clickable, so they are visible but only the sub-categories can be selected..?

I know there’s no option in the settings, but is there a code snippet you could give me that would do that..?

    Cheers,

    Martin.

    Hi Martin,

If you click on one top-level category, it will grey out (make not clickable) all other top level categories and their sub-categories. If you just click a sub-category, and not a top-level category, it won’t grey out anything. That is the only functionality we have right now.

It’s not something we’ve tried or tested ever, so we don’t have the code snippet that would be required.

    OK, Thanks,
