No Restrictions!

I have most of the WP-members plugin working, however, the most important aspect does not work; I want to use the plugin to require registration and log in for a blog page. I set it for auto excerpt, and blocked all posts.
The problem is that nothing gets blocked, registered or not, and logged in or not.
I am missing something very basic, and I am at a total loss to figure out what. I am hoping Chad or someone can give me a bit of guidance on why nothing blocks as it should.
