• I recently changed my site from an information niche site where I was getting some traffic. However, since changing the site to a wordpress blog I have had no traffic or robots or spiders visiting. What can I do to get them crawling my site agin?

    Thanks
    Betty

  • A link would be helpful so we can see what is occuring. Else all we can do is make guesses.

This just happened to me. I started my blog about five days ago and no traffic. Quite by accident I discovered that the default setting in my wordpress install was blocking traffic.

To fix, to to your adminstration page and choose Options.
On the Options page choose the Privavy subhead. You will find these choices:

    Blog visibility:

I would like my blog to be visible to everyone, including search engines (like Google, Sphere, Technorati) and archivers

I would like to block search engines, but allow normal visitors

Click on the options you want to work for you.
