what’s inside of wp-admin->appeareance->widgets->right sidebar widget?
try empty it and see if default widget show up.

nothing. also just tried the footer widgets and they don’t show. i’m using a static page. should that cause any issues? then from there they can go to buddy press or forum pages

i’m wondering if something is wrong with my copy of theme. i downloaded and installed and it looks correct.

on the demo, how did you get the two columns and sidebar?

my site is private. so once they logon i take them to page with several options. i have buddy press and the forum for it installed. i would go straight to forum but it wasn’t showing the sidebars so i created another home page. when going straight to forum, i had a page created and installed the forum shortcake so it displayed. seems to be issue with pages having the sidebars.

try revert the static to latest post in wp-admin->settings->reading.
