    I’m working on a version of Twenty Eleven and I have it set up to be one column, no sidebar in my settings. And it works but all pages and posts and archives are one column. My issue? I want the pages to be one column but not the posts or category archives. Is there a way I can do that? My big issue is they all use the same HTML div set up of main–>primary (or secondary)–>content so when I had the preferences set for two columns, I knocked out get_sidebar for my pages and styled content appropriately but on posts the primary div overlapped the secondary sidebar div. Which obviously, looks awful.

    that is the default behaviour of Twenty Eleven, if one of the theme layout options ‘content on left’ or ‘content on right’ is selected.

    are you working with a modified theme?
    by default, static pages do not have a sidebar in Twenty Eleven;

    are you using one of the page temlates?

    it might help if you can post a link to your site to illustrate the status.
