I have a new custom post type, crowdfunding:
    https://www.meeplemountain.com/crowdfunding/

While this CPT does have specific posts, I do not want to show or link to distinct posts, and instead I want to show all of them on the main archive page. I’ve got most of this working, however Yoast is generating an entry for these posts, which means search engines are finding and indexing them:
https://www.meeplemountain.com/sitemap_index.xml (see the entry for crowdfunding-sitemap.xml).

I want the archive page to appear in search results, but I do not want individual posts to appear so I would like Yoast to _not_ create a sitemap for this CPT. Is this possible, and if so how would I do this?

    Thanks.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hello Commadelimited,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your custom post type (CPT) sitemap.

You can disable its sitemap in WordPress > Yoast SEO > Search Appearance > Content Types and turn OFF the option to ‘Show crowdfunding in search results?’

Sorry about my delayed reply. Maybellyne, I assumed that by disabling the sitemap, the archive page would _also_ be marked as noindex.

But I just took your suggestion and turned off the sitemap for Crowdfunding and sure enough, the archive page is still “index, follow” while the child pages (that I do not want to have indexed) are marked as “noindex, follow”.

Thank you for the simple answer. If I could offer a single suggestion, it might be a good idea to update the docstrings in the UI for this functionality. Currently it says

Show Crowdfunding Roundup in search results?
Not showing Crowdfunding Roundup in the search results technically means those will have a noindex robots meta and will be excluded from XML sitemaps. More info on the search results settings.

That’s confusing because like I originally thought, it seems to indicate that all pages of that type will be noindexed.

Regardless, thanks again for your help.
